Senator Mian Muhammad Ateeq, said on a national TV channel that before the ban, only young adults smoked Sheesha but now they have started to bring it home, which results in more passive smoking.
In July 2019, i.e. last month the Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services Regulation and Coordination Considered removing the sanction on Sheesha and legalizing it.
Committee demanded the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS) to regulate proper laws and allow Sheesha smoking in Pakistan.
The committee has recommended allowing Sheesha centres and ensuring representation of the tobacco industry in the committee. Ateeq said that according to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision, they want to shift Pakistan’s black economy towards documented economy. Because of this ban, we are unable to collect any taxes on Sheesha, he said.
Chairman Committee Senator Mian Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh directed the Ministry to find a middle way that facilitates the families without affecting international treaties.

The All Pakistan Café and Restaurant Association also thinks that ban on Sheesha should be removed as the government is unable to benefit from the sale of Sheesha.
And the boys in Pakistan are eagerly waiting for this to become reality no matter how much they have to pay in terms of taxes.
